Shattered Chains: Jesus’ Victory Over Sin

“What does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul?” (Mark 8:36).

“Consider how precious a soul must be, when both God and the devil are after it” (Rev. Charles Spurgeon, 1856). The enemy has no desire for things that are not eternal. He may use our physical bodies or our money to trap us, but it’s our soul that he’s after. On the contrary, our Creator immeasurably cherishes our soul—So much that He sent His Son, Jesus, to save us from sin.

In His infinite love and mercy, Jesus came into this dark world with a mission—to shatter the chains of the devil. “The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work” (1 John 3:8). Sin was defeated by Jesus and at that moment, we were reconciled back to God the Father. The greatest thing we can ever do is to have our sins forgiven by God and our lives transformed by the power of the Holy Spirit. Jesus gave us this opportunity through His sacrifice on the cross. “For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost” (Luke 19:10).

No matter the chapters already written in your life story, the invitation remains. If you don’t know Jesus as your Savior, it’s not too late. God values you, having breathed life into your soul at conception. Surrender today. Lay your burdens at His feet, confess your sins, and welcome Jesus into your heart. You will be forever changed.

“Christ suffered for our sins once for all time. He never sinned, but he died for sinners to bring you safely home to God. He suffered physical death, but he was raised to life in the Spirit” (1 Peter 3:18).

“Neither height nor depth, not anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 8:39).

“Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls” (Matthew 11:29).

Prayer

Father God, Your name is lifted on high! Hear our prayers today, Lord. We know how valuable we are to You. We put all our burdens at Your feet and ask forgiveness for anything we have done to sin against You. Come into our hearts and make us new creations. We want our names written in the Lamb’s Book of Life. We accept You, love You, and thank You for all You’ve done for us. In the precious name of Jesus, we pray, Amen.
