Staying the Course: Overcoming Doubt with Devotion

Feb 15, 2024

“God blesses those who patiently endure testing and temptation. Afterward they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him” (James 1:12).

There is inspiration in the life of Noah. He was a righteous man favored by God because of his faithfulness. He did all God asked of him despite being laughed at by people who didn’t understand his mission. “By faith Noah, being warned by God concerning events as yet unseen, in reverent fear constructed an ark for the saving of his household. By this he condemned the world and became an heir of the righteousness that comes by faith” (Hebrews 11:7).

We probably won’t ever have to build an arc, but we are all called to do things for God. Those around us may misunderstand our dedication, and the path of obedience is not always short. Sometimes, the weight of that is heavy. Life may be peppered with moments of doubt in search of our purpose, but staying devoted to our God-given mission is vital. Through it all, we know He is with us. As believers, we will be rewarded for sincerely seeking His will and trusting His plan.

Your Call to Action

Be refreshed and encouraged! God has a long-term plan for your life. Just like Noah, you are chosen and loved by God. Remain devoted to Him in the face of adversity, praying for His direction and peace for the journey.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take” (Proverbs 3:5-6).

“For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope” (Jeremiah 29:11).

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose” (Romans 8:28).

Prayer

Father God, we love You, Lord, and thank You for all You’ve done for us. Help us to tune out the noise around us and focus on You and Your will for us. We have faith that Your plan is perfect. Give us direction and peace in all we do. In Your name, we pray, Amen.

A Comforting Closure

The same God that orchestrated the flood and saved Noah and his family, is intricately directing our lives.
