The Strong Tower
“The name of the LORD is a strong tower; The righteous runs into it and is safe” (Proverbs 18:10).
There is SHELTER in the name of Jesus! In difficult times, we are often forced to endure things we never thought we’d have to or make decisions we never thought we’d have to make. Our human instinct is to depend on ourselves or others rather than looking to God for the help we desperately need. No matter the source of our pain— from the consequences of our own mistakes or sin to loss of a job, parenting struggles, unmet desires, relationship problems, or even something as tragic as an unexpected death of a loved one—God promises that He will deliver us from our pit of despair if we lean into Him. He is our Shelter, Healer, Counselor, Prince of Peace, Deliverer, Hiding Place, and Savior. Let Him be all of those things for you!
No matter what we’re going through, Jesus understands. In fact, He knew in advance! Nothing surprises Him, and He is ready to help us, no matter where we find ourselves. He has paid the debt for all our sins and wants to heal our broken pieces. He is ready to be our STRONG TOWER. All we have to do is call out His name. He gives us the shelter only He can provide.
Guiding Points:
Call to Action: Let’s thank Him and praise Him for being our place of refuge! As we read God’s Word, let it fill you with peace, knowing He is your safe place.
“Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. This I declare about the LORD: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him. For he will rescue you from every trap and protect you from deadly disease. He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection. Do not be afraid of the terrors of the night, nor the arrow that flies in the day. Do not dread the disease that stalks in darkness, nor the disaster that strikes at midday. Though a thousand fall at your side, though ten thousand are dying around you, these evils will not touch you. Just open your eyes, and see how the wicked are punished. If you make the LORD your refuge, if you make the Most High your shelter, no evil will conquer you; no plague will come near your home. For he will order his angels to protect you wherever you go. They will hold you up with their hands so you won’t even hurt your foot on a stone. You will trample upon lions and cobras; you will crush fierce lions and serpents under your feet! The Lord says, “I will rescue those who love me. I will protect those who trust in my name. When they call on me, I will answer; I will be with them in trouble. I will rescue and honor them. I will reward them with a long life and give them my salvation” (Psalm 91:1- 16).
“I can do all things through him who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13). “So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most” (Hebrews 4:16).
“Seek the Lord and his strength; seek his presence continually!” (1 Chronicles 16:11).
Prayer: Father God, we lift Your name on high and praise You today! Thank you for being our strong tower through every storm. Help us to lean into You for support and strength when we need it most. We trust you, Lord! In Your precious name, we pray, Amen!
Final Thought: There is no security greater than the hands of our Risen Savior!
