Supreme Court Sides With Trump In Major Decision

The U.S. Supreme Court ruled Monday that states cannot remove former President Donald Trump from their ballots in the 2024 presidential election.

The unanimous ruling took place just one day ahead of Super Tuesday’s primaries, and forces all states to take part in free and fair elections (at least as far as the ballot names are concerned). Judges in Colorado, Illinois, Maine, and other states have all attempted to remove Trump from the ballot, but their efforts were in vain thanks to the Supreme Court’s decision, Newsmax reported.

Judges in these states argued that Trump shouldn’t be allowed to run as president because they perceived him to be involved in the events at the Capitol on Jan. 6. But the Supreme Court’s ruling states that the post-Civil War era constitutional provision that judges were leaning on cannot be applied to Trump.

Reactions To The Decision

“This is a monumental decision,” Florida Republican Rep. Byron Daniels told Newsmax. “The right decision by the Supreme Court. The tragic thing is that it didn’t need to even be this way.” (LEARN MORE: Colorado Won’t Let Citizens Vote For Trump)

“What we’re dealing with is elements in the Democrat Party who are very, very radical,” Donalds continued. “They don’t have the country’s best interest at heart. And the wonderful thing is that the Supreme Court [decision] was unanimous. You did not have an ideological split on the court. You had a unanimous ruling from the court that the states cannot decide to go against the Constitution when it comes to eligibility for the highest office in the land. This is a wonderful decision for America, a landmark decision for America and, hopefully, it’s a signal to those radical elements in the Democrat Party who are using the legal system for political ends. They should stop right now. The country does not deserve that. Let the people decide who’s going to be the 47th president of the United States.”
