The Father Who Delights to Give

The Father Who Delights to Give, Million Voices Creative Team
Jesus said in Matthew 6:33, “Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” That single instruction carries a promise, when our priorities align with God’s, His blessings naturally follow. The order matters: we seek Him first, and then He provides what we truly need.
Too often, we reverse the order. We chase provision, answers, or comfort, and only afterward turn to God for help. But Jesus taught that the kingdom must come before the outcome. When we make His will our pursuit, He makes our needs His concern. God never asks us to seek Him in vain; He invites us into alignment so that He can pour out what’s already in His heart to give.
That’s why just one chapter later, in Matthew 7:11, Jesus adds, “If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him.” The same Father who commands us to seek first His kingdom promises that He will not withhold what is good. He is not reluctant, He is generous.
The connection between these verses reveals a simple but powerful truth: obedience opens the door for blessing. God’s gifts are not random rewards but responses to relationship. When our hearts are set on Him, He delights to give what will sustain, strengthen, and sanctify us.
You don’t have to beg for what He already longs to give. You simply have to seek Him first. When your heart is aligned with His kingdom, His goodness will find its way to you, every time.
Call To Action
This week, make an intentional shift, seek His kingdom first in your time, your thoughts, and your priorities. Start each morning asking, “Lord, what do You want to do through me today?” As you align your heart with His, watch how He provides what you once worried about. God doesn’t bless disorder; He blesses devotion. Put Him first, and trust that every good thing will follow.
“And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19)
“If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.” (John 15:7)
“Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass.” (Psalm 37:4-5)
Prayer
Jesus, help me continually to align with Your word and to lay down all my needs at Your feet. You placed the desires in my heart, now just help me walk out the truth You have called me to and be faithful to steward what I have, so that I can have more given to bless others with. Allow me, God, to humbly ask You for the things that are in my heart as I expand my territory according to Your word.
Comforting Closure
When you seek God first, you never walk empty-handed. The same Father who invites you to pursue His kingdom promises to meet you there with everything you need. His goodness is not delayed; it’s perfectly timed. Rest in that today, your Father knows what is good, and He delights to give it.
