The Peace of God in the COVID Era

“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10 (ESV)

Not many topics have generated as much tension or dissension as COVID, especially the decision whether or not to receive the COVID vaccine. This issue has pitted families, friends, neighbors, and co–workers against each other. In fact, one of the enemy’s strategies is to use difficult issues like this to divide us and to destroy our relationships.

As Christians, we are empowered to rise above the schemes of the enemy! We can reject the enemy’s plan to divide us, and, instead, unify as the body of Christ. This does not require that we all agree—even as Christians we have differing thoughts, opinions and positions on the COVID vaccine, as well as countless other difficult subjects. But even in the face of disagreement, we can protect unity by offering grace, being merciful, and exhibiting love toward those who see things differently. Difficult situations provide rich opportunities to share the light of Jesus in a dark world and to pray for those who have been devastated by relational or physical pain or loss.

Be encouraged by the words in Genesis 50:20: “You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.” Let’s pray for God to usher in a period of great healing and awakening. God is with us!

Use these scriptures to pray and ask for God’s hand to move over this situation. He is the Great Physician! May He heal the broken places and grant us the wisdom and discernment we need, to be able to fulfill His will in the days ahead.

Father, we praise You today for all You have done and will continue to do for us! We know the enemy has tried to defeat us with division, sickness, fear, and regret, but we know You came to give us abundant life. We reject every plot, scheme and blueprint of the enemy in Jesus’ name. You protect us from all evil. We claim the promise from You. Please help us unite as one body behind You, our Blessed Redeemer. Fill us with Your Peace. Guide us to the truth. We glorify Your precious holy name! Amen!
