The Spirit of Resilience: Pushing Through Uncertainty with Faith in God
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purposeā (Romans 8:28).
As we stand on the cusp of a new year, we are reminded that the Spirit of Resilience is integral to our survival. Recent years have been marred by global health crises, a looming world war, financial woes, and undeniable behavioral change in many people. The entire world has been impacted. The future remains uncertain, its course unknown to us, but not to our God. As we sail into the uncharted waters of the future, we must put on God’s armor, harnessing the power of our spiritual center, founded in Christ Jesus. He gives us the strength to weather the storm and forge ahead. Our faith is rooted not in our capacity to understand every detail of His plan, but in our trust in His divine authority.
Luke 21 paints a vivid picture of the end timesāimposters claiming to be Jesus, nations pitted against each other, widespread earthquakes, famines, diseases, frightening phenomena, and miraculous sights. We are witnessing the laying of foundations, the fruition of prophecies. However, amidst this chaos, we are reminded through scripture to focus our gaze heavenward. As it is written in Colossians 3:2, “Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.”
Our comfort and strength lie in yoking ourselves with God, as depicted in Matthew 11:29, “Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”
