The Ultimate Healing: Your Connection with Christ
“Dear friend, I hope all is well with you and that you are as healthy in body as you are strong in spirit” (3 John 1:2).
A TikTok/social media trend known as “grounding” has recently ballooned in popularity. This technique, also called “earthing,” is rooted in Eastern religious practices. It claims that one can connect, ground, and restore our bodies to earth through electrical charges. Advocates argue that walking barefoot or laying on dirt, grass, or a mat can reduce inflammation, stress, pain, and improve overall well-being. Some studies have explored this practice’s effects on fatigue, depression, heart disease, PTSD, and other ailments.
However, this exercise fails to “ground” your soul in Christ. While it may impact your physical health, only Jesus can provide spiritual healing and nourishment. When we are grounded in Jesus, we focus on Him and cultivate a deeper relationship with Him. In this, the verse “It is well with my soul” takes on a bolder, more significant meaning. Through our faith, we are energized and establish connectivity with Him, which powers everything around us. Jesus IS the electrical charge our spirits need to tread our path confidently and to recognize the beauty in our true identity in Him.
