‘They’ve Declared War On Parents’: State Rep. Sounds Major Alarm After Sunday Shocker

Colorado State Rep. Brandi Bradley shared a shocking post on X, Sunday (April 6) regarding a last-minute session to “ram” seemingly anti-parent bills through the state legislature.

“The Colorado Legislature has been called into session today—on the LORDS day—to ram through abortion bills and HB25-1312, the most extreme assault on parental rights and religious freedom we’ve ever seen,” Bradley wrote on X. “If it’s a war on families they want… it’s a war they’re gonna get.”

The bill covers things like:

• Defines “misgendering” as child abuse — meaning “parents could lose custody of their kids for using the ‘wrong’ pronouns,” Bradley noted.
• Protects parents who “traffic children into Colorado for irreversible gender surgeries—nullifying other states’ laws and court orders.”
• Forces all state schools to adopt transition policies
• Redefines “misgendering” and “deadnaming” as discrimination

“They are fast-tracking this bill ON A SUNDAY, hoping we’re too distracted to notice. Thirds TODAY. Committee hearing could be tomorrow or Wednesday in the Senate,” she added at the time of writing, asking residents to sign up and testify about this issue (click here for more information).

The State Wants To Raise Your Children?

HB25-1312 specifically states that “when making child custody decisions and determining the best interests of a child for purposes of parenting time, a court shall consider deadnaming, misgendering, or threatening to publish material related to an individual’s gender-affirming health-care services as types of coercive control.” The lawmakers define “coercive control” as “means a pattern of threatening, humiliating, or intimidating actions, including assaults or other abuse, that is used to harm, punish, or frighten an individual.”

It is unclear why Colorado’s elected officials felt this piece of legislation was important enough to call a session on a Sunday. The prime sponsors include State Reps. Lorena Garcia, Rebekah Stewart, and Senators Faith Winter and Chris Kolker.
