Trump Administration Revokes Student Visas Tied to Crime and Terror Concerns

When foreign students come to America, they should do so with gratitude for the opportunity to study in the greatest nation on the planet. Unfortunately, some students are instead engaging in criminal activity or voicing support for terrorism — leading the Trump administration to begin revoking student visas.
According to The Washington Post, the State Department said it has revoked more than 6,000 student visas, of which about 4,000 were tied to crimes including assault, driving under the influence, and burglary. It was also reported that between 200 and 300 student visas were revoked due to “support for terrorism.”
Governor Greg Abbott voiced support for the effort:
Over 6,000 student visas revoked for crimes and overstays.
Good.
They shouldn’t be here. https://t.co/d9qodssKmu

A Pro-Terrorism Chant on Campus
It is hard to believe that students would come to America to protest the very nation giving them an education, yet it is happening. Zara Raven, a student at the University of Pennsylvania on a U.S. visa, was recently spotted in a video with a pro-Palestine crowd chanting “globalize the intifada,” a phrase widely recognized as a call for violent uprising against Israel.
Please meet Zara Raven, she is in the U.S. on a student visa and studying at UPenn. Here she is leading a crowd in chanting “globalize the intifada,” before the crowd started accosting police officers.
Should she be deported? @DHSgov

Dozens quickly demanded her deportation. One user wrote:
“This should be viewed as an invasion by a foreign hostile enemy. They should be captured, tried, and imprisoned or deported to the hostile nations they support or sponsor. There should be no leniency, no tolerance, and only rapid resolution in order to protect the sovereignty of our nation and the safety of its loyal citizens.”
Growing Concerns
Many Americans view this issue as worse than the ongoing illegal immigration crisis at the southern border. Student visas are granted directly by the U.S. government, meaning these individuals were intentionally allowed entry. Seeing students chant against the very country offering them education only adds to national frustration.
Critics of President Trump dismiss these policies as racism or xenophobia, but the reality is simple: no nation tolerates threats from foreigners within its own borders. Liberal ideology in recent decades has allowed such activism not only to go unchecked, but in some cases to be encouraged.
Earlier this summer, Portland State University placed a professor on administrative leave after a video surfaced in which he expressed support for Hamas, saying, “Do you know Hamas? What was the plan for Hamas? I am Hamas.”
This begs the question: why are there professors teaching students at publicly funded schools?
One of many items on President Trump’s agenda is to shine a spotlight on universities and colleges that, in his view, have grown openly hostile to American values. The revocation of student visas is one piece of a broader effort to hold higher education accountable for fostering anti-American sentiment. By linking visa enforcement with campus reform, Trump is signaling that institutions cannot separate their academic mission from national security concerns. With just over three years remaining, he has limited time to pursue these changes before the 2026 midterms and the 2028 general election.
Free Speech vs. Threats
Too many colleges and universities now host students and faculty who are not only unfriendly to the United States, but openly hostile, with little to no consequences. Protests like the one at UPenn are troubling, but whether a veiled threat is constitutionally prohibited remains an ongoing legal question.
Balancing the First Amendment with threatening comments has always been a challenge. What is clear, however, is that chanting pro-terrorist remarks on an American college campus, while enjoying the privilege of an education, is wrong. It should not go unanswered.
