Unseen Victory: God Defends Us in Every Battle
It’s easy to feel like we are fighting alone in moments of struggle and adversity. The pressures of life, whether from external circumstances or internal battles, often make us believe that we are the only ones who can defend ourselves. However, Scripture reassures us that we are never alone in these struggles. Exodus 14:14 says, “The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” When the Israelites faced the seemingly insurmountable challenge of the Red Sea in front of them and Pharaoh’s army behind them, God made it clear that He was their ultimate protector. God doesn’t leave us to fend for ourselves. Instead, He steps in as our defender, assuring us that our responsibility is to trust Him and remain still in His presence.
God’s defense doesn’t always look like what we expect. We often think that God will fight for us by immediately removing the problem or providing a quick solution. However, His ways are higher than ours, and sometimes His defense guides us to a place of surrender, teaching us that our strength is not in our own hands but in His. Psalm 121:3-4 reminds us, “He will not let your foot slip—He who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, He who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.” God’s vigilance is constant, and His protection never falters. In times when we feel most vulnerable, He is working on our behalf, even when we cannot see the full scope of His plans.
When we believe that we are the only ones who can protect ourselves, we risk relying on our own strength, which is limited. But the truth is that God’s power is limitless, and He has proven throughout history that He fights for His people. In Romans 8:31, Paul declares, “If God is for us, who can be against us?” No enemy, no circumstance, no hardship can overpower the One who defends us. As we surrender our fears and anxieties to God, we are reminded that He is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. God fights for us, not only in the battles we face but in every aspect of our lives, ensuring that nothing separates us from His love.
