When Chloe Cole was 13 years old, she was put on puberty blockers. At 15 she was given a double mastectomy. A year later, she began her detransition process, making it her mission to warn the world about the abusive power held by medical institutions over America’s children.

Cole was invited to the University of Utah by the Young America’s Foundation (YAF) to discuss her experience. “We must keep fighting to rid the country of this practice of manipulating, utilizing, mutilating, and sterilizing children. We must address how to otherwise care for these kids who are struggling with pain and trauma,” she said during the Thursday speech, according to the Washington Stand. One Professor’s Strange Response

After hearing of Cole’s “incredible painful” experience, one professor wanted to host “healing circles” for the school’s LGBTQ student population. “This week, our campus is hosting a presentation by a prominent anti-trans activist,” the professor wrote in an email obtained by YAF. “We are expecting significant protests this week around the event, starting as early as tomorrow due to transphobic events planned. … I wanted to make sure no one feels pressured to come to campus this week due to one of our class meetings, especially if you do not feel safe.”

It’s unclear why anyone would feel unsafe as a result of Cole’s speech. She is not a violent person, she is not aggressive. She is simply telling her story on the abuse of power by medical institutions and the manipulation of young people into giving up their bodies to medical experimentation.
