What Are You Feeding Your Mind?

What Are You Feeding Your Mind?, The Million Voices Creative Team

Your thoughts shape everything. The way you vote, the way you raise your children, the way you respond to a culture that grows louder and more hostile by the day, all of it flows from what occupies your mind.

So here is a question worth sitting with: what are you feeding it?

We live surrounded by voices competing for our attention. News alerts, social media feeds, political ads, and endless commentary press in on us, each one shaping how we think without our permission. Left unchecked, these influences slowly conform us to the pattern of the world. But God offers a better way, a daily, deliberate renewal that transforms us from the inside out.

Paul understood that holy living starts with the mind. Writing to the believers in Ephesus, he urged them to put off their old self and “to be renewed in the spirit of your minds” (Ephesians 4:23, ESV). The Greek word he used, ananeousthai, means to be reestablished in a new and improved way. This is not a one-time event. It is a continual work of the Holy Spirit, reshaping our thoughts and attitudes day by day.

As Warren Wiersbe put it, “Physically, you are what you eat, but spiritually, you are what you think.” If we fill our minds with anxiety, outrage, and the empty promises of political tribalism, our lives will reflect that diet. But if we fill our minds with the truth of God’s Word, we will be transformed.

This is not abstract theology. It has real consequences for how we live and engage with the world around us.

Consider the cultural moment. People mock leaders, spread fear, and place their hope in candidates and parties. It is easy to be swept along by that current. Romans 12:2 warns us, “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” A renewed mind helps us discern God’s will. It guards our hearts when earthly justice fails. It keeps us anchored in Christ rather than tossed about by the headlines.

When your mind is renewed, you can engage in difficult conversations with grace. You can pray for those in authority instead of cursing them. You can model for your children a hope that rests in King Jesus, not in any election outcome.

ACT

Take time each day this week meditating on Scripture to align your thoughts with God’s truth. Begin by committing Romans 12:2 to memory, and ask God to transform your mind through His Word. This daily practice equips you to approach life’s challenges with faith, hope, and love, reflecting Christ amidst a broken world.

“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind…” (Romans 12:2)

“…and have put on the new self who is being renewed to a true knowledge according to the image of the One who created him.” (Colossians 3:10)

“Therefore we do not lose heart, but though our outer man is decaying, yet our inner man is being renewed day by day.” (2 Corinthians 4:16)

Pray

Jesus, help me renew my mind today. I want Your thoughts, Your mind, Your heart. Holy Spirit come, rule and reign in my life. I trade everything in my mind for what You want replaced in me. I want what You want Holy Spirit. I need You. I cannot live another day without Your holy presence in my life. I glorify Your name, Jesus.
