Young Muslim Voters Turn Away From Biden

Early polling of young Americans and Muslim groups suggests President Joe Biden is losing these two demographics as we head into the 2024 election year.

A New York Times report published in November found young American voters are not leaning into the Democratic narrative in the same way they did during previous elections. Those aged 18-29 used to be overwhelmingly Democratic, favoring candidates like Hillary Clinton (55%) and Biden (60%) in the last two elections.

“Virtually every poll shows a close race between Mr. Biden and Mr. Trump among young voters,” NYT writer Nate Cohn noted. He believes this because younger voters “are by far the likeliest to say [Biden’s] just too old to be an effective president.” And many are upset over Biden’s handling of the Hamas-Israel war.

Muslims Turn Away From Biden

In the same breath, Muslim Americans are turning away from Biden and his Administration due to their support of Israel. Muslim leaders across major swing states pledged their withdrawal of support from Biden over the weekend, The Washington Stand reported.

While Muslim Americans only make up about 1.1% of the total population, their votes are highly influential in their hubs. “Experts say that Muslim Americans can have an outsized influence on the election due to their propensity to largely vote for Democrats,” the outlet noted.
