Anti-Christian Hate Crimes Soar In Europe

A recent report published by the Observatory on Intolerance and Discrimination against Christians in Europe (OIDAC Europe) found a 44 percent increase in hate crimes between September 2022 and August 2023.

At least 748 anti-Christian hate crimes were committed across Europe in the one-year period reviewed, 38 of which were physical attacks, and three were murders, the report states. “There had been a surge of clear extremism-motivated attacks,” the report authors stated, noting most of these attacks came from far-left, Satanic groups, Islamic, feminist, or LGBTQ-affiliated groups or people.

“The increase in the number of anti-Christian hate crimes is truly shocking in a supposedly Christian continent. The presence of many millions of the Islamic faith which preaches hatred, domination, and annihilation of all non-Muslims has no doubt added greatly to the rise in anti-Christian violence,” Irish Freedom Party founder and president Hermann Kelly told the Washington Stand.

What Is The Law In Europe?

“In Europe, religious freedom is protected under the Council of Europe’s European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR), which is the most efficient regional human rights body as it also allows for individual complaints before the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR). Thanks to the legal protection of religious freedom under the ECHR and national legislation, it remains uncommon to see violent outbreaks caused by anti-religious sentiment, or explicit discrimination in most parts of Europe,” the report noted. But things are changing quickly. There are growing movements across Europe to silence and suppress religious freedoms, and even criminalize Christian practices. Those accused of spreading “hate” would have to prove their innocence. At least an Irish bill would potentially outlaw memes on a phone, books, and other Christian teachings.
