Christians Rally As Hurricane Beryl Heads For US

Jul 8, 2024

An Evangelical group from Greensboro, North Carolina, rallied to support victims of Hurricane Beryl as she made her way across the Cayman Islands, heading for Texas.

The N.C.-based evangelical relief group Samaritan’s Purse airlifted some 24 tons of emergency supplies throughout regions already impacted by Hurricane Beryl in early June, according to The Christian Post. The storm struck Jamaica and Grenada, killing at least 10, on Wednesday, before moving to Grand Cayman and Tulum, Mexico, by Thursday.

“We started building out pallets of cargo before the hurricane even made landfall and are now on the way with life-saving aid,” said president of Samaritan’s Purse Franklin Graham, asking believers to join him “in praying for the families who are in the path of this storm, and for our Samaritan’s Purse staff who will be serving them.” (LEARN MORE: More Than 1 Million Americans Without Power As Storms Rage)

Heading For Texas

Hurricane Warnings were issued throughout Texas’ Gulf Coast on Sunday as Beryl moved directory for Corpus Christi up through Galveston and Houston, according to Fox. Storm Surge and Tropical Storm warnings are also in place throughout the coast.

“Further intensification is likely as Beryl moves over very warm waters within light shear conditions,” the National Hurricane Center said in their forecast. “Rapid intensification is a distinct possibility if the core can become isolated from the dry air that has been inhibiting intensification during the last day or so.” (LEARN MORE: Interview Suggests New Evidence On Voter Machine Issues In 2020)

“”This is going to be a very challenging system to deal with because it’s so disorganized now, and it’s going to look disorganized as it approaches the coast, and it’s harder to get people motivated to take action,” said FOX Weather Hurricane Specialist Bryan Norcross. “But we have a situation where it could intensify significantly [Sunday] as it’s approaching the coast like right offshore.”

National Security

Extreme weather is a major national security threat with the power to impact the lives of millions of Americans. Every year, you have the power to Use Your Voice to ask your local, state, and federally elected officials to prioritize practical means of dealing with natural phenomena.

Did you know that you can lobby your elected officials into securing our power grid infrastructure and emergency services today? Most people think the only thing they can do to make a difference to their safety is vote. And while safe and secure elections are arguably the most important and valuable process for American democracy, it doesn’t start and end at the ballot box.

We can tell your leaders what you want from their time in office, and what you expect from our federal government. Letter-writing campaigns, or even just a single letter, can be enough to sway policy and prompt investigations.
