FLASHBACK! ‘Work Of God’: UGA Students Get Baptisms In Pickup Trucks

FLASHBACK! In April 2024, students at the University of Georgia went viral after being baptized in pick-up trucks in a parking lot.
In what appeared to be a revival movement at UGA, thousands of students gathered for prayer, worship and to share their testimonies, according to Fox News. “I just heard the call from the Lord, and he said, ‘Be obedient,'” student Nate Kearns explained to Fox host Laura Ingraham shortly after the event. “I listened to Him to take a step of faith and let my fraternity brothers watch that.”
Though he grew up in a culturally Christian way, Kearns said he did not have an “intimate relationship with Christ,” yet felt called to respond when he heard Him. “No matter how broken you think you are, Jesus Christ’s love is more powerful than that, and He wants to enter into a personal relationship with you,” Kearns added. “If you call on the name of the Lord, you will not be forsaken.” (LEARN MORE: Christians Called To Shine ‘Light’ On ‘Dark Institutions’)
‘Work Of God’
“We have thousands of students showing up at these events and hundreds giving their lives to Jesus, hundreds getting baptized,” Unite US founder Tonya Prewett noted at the time. “We’re hearing testimonies from these students saying, ‘Hey, I walked in contemplating suicide, but I left with the most joy and peace I’ve ever experienced.’ It’s just amazing and it’s moving.”
Prewett felt the event could only be explained as a “work of God,” noting that students across the country are “seeking for something, and what we’re bringing to them is just hope and truth, and we offer salvation and freedom and connection, and our prayer is that these students will leave this event and get connected in a local church or ministry and carry this on as a lifelong decision.”
Revival Movement Grows Globally
In just a few short years, it feels as if the uptick in people moving into their relationship with Christ is erupting. From the depths of the Amazon, where some 14,500 people were baptized over the course of six months in 2024, according to CBN, to the streets of Krakow, Poland, where hundreds joined over the Christian season in a huge revival event, per Evangelical Focus, Christ is shining his light for all the world to see. Back home, college students are turning their attention to their relationship with His Word. At Ohio State University, football players are leading the charge in a religious revival on campus, as reported by NPR. Back in 2024, we reported that Sec. of State Marco Rubio’s son, Anthony Rubio, gave the glory for his first collegiate touchdown to God. There are so many examples of our world growing closer to a full relationship with Christ that we cannot slow momentum, not even for a second.
The Future Of Christianity In America
President Donald Trump said in September, during his reelection campaign, that he wants to see a religious revival in America. Since being sworn into office, he has delivered in many of his campaign promises. He’s signed an Executive Order announcing the creation of an anti-Christian bias task force.
“It is the policy of the United States, and the purpose of this order, to protect the religious freedoms of Americans and end the anti-Christian weaponization of government,” the order states. “The Founders established a Nation in which people were free to practice their faith without fear of discrimination or retaliation by their government.”
How Do You Envision Christianity In Our Future?
Here at Million Voices, we don’t do “breaking” news. We cover stories based on how important they are to you, dear reader, and our beloved members. We want you to be able to take action with what you read today, so here’s what you need to know:
Changing your world starts with your locally elected officials, and goes all the way up to the White House. Did you know that it is your responsibility to tell your lawmakers what you want to happen during their time in office? Just because you voted for them in November (or maybe you didn’t) doesn’t mean your role in shaping America’s future is over. Now is the time to actually engage with your lawmakers by lobbying them to support the change YOU want to see.
Yes, Million Voices helps you with voter guides. Yes, we send letters from YOU directly to your elected officials because it’s the only way to guarantee they’ll listen to you. Yes, we publish data, articles, text messages, and help bridge the gap between education and civic action.
We want to make YOU the hero of our American story by giving you the tools you need to make a difference, from your local, state, all the way up to the federal level.
Join us in our mission to advocate for religious freedom, support fair and secure elections, and uphold the values that this great nation was built upon. Tell us what you want from the next four years, and we will fight to make it a reality … again!
