Police Clear Campus Protestors Before Mayoral Hearing

May 10, 2024

Law enforcement officers started clearing a large group of pro-Palestinian protestors from an encampment at George Washington University in Washington D.C. on Wednesday, just hours before the city’s Mayor Muriel Bowser and MPD Chief Pamela Smith testified about the District’s handling of the protest.

“Officers gave their third and final warning to demonstrators to move at about 3:30 a.m., saying all who remained in U-Yard and the stretch of H Street in front of the plaza would be arrested,” according to the university’s independently-run newspaper GW Hatchet. So-called organizers of the event apparently told local media that “some protesters were pepper sprayed as police stopped them from entering the encampment and nearly 30 people had been arrested,” Newsmax reported.

“While the university is committed to protecting students’ rights to free expression, the encampment had evolved into an unlawful activity, with participants in direct violation of multiple university policies and city regulations,” the school said in a statement. Chaos On Campuses

College campuses across the U.S. are descending into chaos as young Americans cry for a “free Palestine” and yet often can’t locate the area on a map, nor say what “free Palestine” even means. Since protests erupted in April, some 2,600 people have been arrested across 50 different schools, Newsmax claimed, citing data from The Associated Press.

But not all schools are dealing with the blatant antisemitism that often accompanies these protests. Some schools are even letting the protestors take over buildings, disrupting the flow of education for thousands of young Americans. This is a borderline criminal activity, largely spurred on by outside agitators.
