Polls conducted following President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address in March showed no growth in support for his reelection campaign, Newsmax reported.

Data gathered by the top five polling organizations showed the address was not well received by Americans, with 59% of registered voters telling a HarrisX/Forbes poll that the speech actually served to further divide the nation. In YouGov, Yahoo, Rasmussen, FiveThirtyEight, and Morning Consult polls, data stayed pretty much the same for Biden, with a majority showing concerns for his age, mental capacity, and ability to navigate the multitude of crises facing the nation. The FiveThirtyEight poll dipped in support of Biden from 38.1% on March 7 to 38% following the speech. The Economist/YouGov poll did not show a change, giving Biden the same 56% disapproval rating.

Compared To Former Presidents

Former Presidents Donald Trump and Barack Obama received bumps in their polling numbers following their address in 2015, 2016, and 2018, which is why the numbers are so surprising for Biden. He received a lot of positive feedback from corporate news media on his remarks, but that positivity did not extend to the American people. “Voters didn’t like the State of the Union address as much as reporters did,” writer for the Wall Street Journal James Freeman wrote. Part of the problem was likely Biden’s decision not to focus on issues that truly matter to you, like the economy, freedom, and prosperity for the nation.
