An allegedly self-described member of the Hezbollah terrorist organization was reportedly stopped at the U.S border earlier this month while trying to enter the country near El Paso, Texas, Newsmax reported in March.

Basel Bassel Ebbadi, 22, was stopped by Border Patrol on March 9 and admitted to planning a terror attack in New York City. “I’m going to try and make a bomb,” Ebbadi said, according to reports from the New York Post. (LEARN MORE: Trump Says US Is ‘More Vulnerable From Inside Terror Attacks’)

Ebbadi spent the last seven years of his life, likely since age 15, being trained by the terrorist organization and working with them to guard weapons. His training included “jihad,” the act of killing non-Muslim people. He allegedly said he escaped his home in Lebanon to come to the U.S. because he “didn’t want to kill people” anymore, he allegedly told ICE.

Allegedly Scheduled For Deportation

Ebbadi said that once you’re part of Hezbollah “you can never get out.” He made his way to the U.S. through Central America, claiming his papers were stolen in Costa Rica so he used a fake identity to get to the border. Once here, he planned to go to NYC before moving around the rest of the country.

He was detained by Border Patrol and held in isolation until he could be interviewed by the Tactical Terrorism Response Team. He’s allegedly scheduled for deportation to an unknown country.
