The Spiritual Battle Over Identity(and How to Fight It)

“It would be better to be thrown into the sea with a millstone hung around your neck than to cause one of these little ones to fall into sin” (Luke 17:2).

The spiritual battle for our kids is REAL! An unprecedented assault on their innocence and identity is the growing trend, including parents who “select” the gender of their newborn babies, then impose “interventions.” Children’s books and media are telling young people they don’t have to be either a boy or a girl and can decide their own pronouns. They can choose to be “non-binary,” with reportedly 94 different genders to choose from. Policymakers at every government level are attempting to undermine parental rights. They support withholding information from parents about children’s gender questions or confusion at their schools. Leftist-driven gender ideology has flooded our nation’s college campuses. Many are a shell of the great institutions they once were.

The tsunami of evil manipulation has triggered a large and growing group of angry and hurting people with emotional traumas. Many young people, now “de-transitioning,” are admitting everything they were told was a lie. Satan is the father of lies (John 8:44). While he is clearly working to take down an entire younger generation, we cannot let that happen! We KNOW Jesus is the answer!

As people struggle with identity, the body of Christ needs to securely know who they are! Amid the darkness, remember Who we serve and why we are here—We are prayer warriors! Simply watching the news leaves a burden on our hearts to pray for the lost generations of this nation. The Holy Spirit calls us to intercede for young people, covering them through all the stages of their development. “I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession, and thanksgiving be made for all people” (1 Timothy 2:1).

The flame of revival starts within each of us. Just think, if we all reached one person for Jesus, what a GAME-CHANGER that would be! NEVER give up on the younger generation. That’s what the enemy wants. Let us press on, pray up, and take this nation and our young people back for Christ!

Guiding Points:

Call to Action: Join us in praying for our young people. Use these specific passages of scripture in prayers of intercession:

Pray for the tearing down of strongholds and deliverance from deception and rebellion: “We use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments. We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ” (2 Corinthians 10:4-5).

Pray for the salvation of those lost: “Brothers, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for them is that they may be saved” (Romans 10:1).

Pray for the sick: “Are any of you sick? You should call for the elders of the church to come and pray over you, anointing you with oil in the name of the Lord. Such a prayer offered in faith will heal the sick, and the Lord will make you well. And if you have committed any sins, you will be forgiven” (James 5:14-15).

Pray for wisdom for others: “If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and He will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking” (James 1:5).

Pray for God’s angels to protect our children: “For He will order His angels to protect you wherever you go. They will hold you up with their hands, so you won’t even hurt your foot on a stone” (Psalm 91:11-12).

Pray for the next generation: “We will not hide these truths from our children; we will tell the next generation about the glorious deeds of the Lord, about His power and His mighty wonders. For He issued His laws to Jacob; He gave His instructions to Israel. He commanded our ancestors to teach them to their children, so the next generation might know them—even the children not yet born—and they in turn will teach their own children. So, each generation should set its hope anew on God, not forgetting His glorious miracles and obeying His commands” (Psalm 78:4-7).

Pray for opportunities to tell people about Jesus: “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be My witnesses, telling people about Me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth” (Acts 1:8).

Prayer: Father God, we praise Your holy name! We come to You today to intercede on behalf of the young people of this country. We pray right now that You will tear down strongholds and deliver them from deception and rebellion. Remove every obstacle that keeps kids from knowing You. May they be saved, knowing how valuable they are to You. In Jesus’ name, we ask that You help them overcome any emotional or mental sickness. Give parents discernment and wisdom to see what is happening at school and at home. Show them how to intervene when necessary. Position Your angels to protect children from harm—emotionally, mentally, physically, and spiritually. May revival continue to spread among our young people. When they have their own families someday, we pray they teach their children about the salvation offered in You. Give us opportunities to tell others about You with the boldness to stand for You. In Your precious name, we pray, Amen!

Final Thought: Be strong and courageous. God is with us!
