NFL Legend Slams Harris’ Abortion Comments

Hall of Fame football coach Tony Dungy posed a pointed question at Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris after she made a statement regarding faith and the right to life in mid-September.

“One does not have to abandon their faith or deeply held beliefs to agree: The government, and certainly [former President and Republican candidate for president] Donald Trump, should not be telling a woman what to do with her body,” Kamala Harris said on X. It is presumed that Harris is referencing the overturning of Roe v. Wade.

“Dear VP Harris: I hear you make this statement all the time. Exactly what ‘faith’ are you talking about when you say you don’t have to abandon it to support abortion?” Dungy wrote in response. “Are you talking about the Christian faith that says all babies are made in the image of God (Gen 1:26), that God places them in the womb (Jer 1:5) and that we should not take any life unjustly (Luke 18:20)? Are you talking about that faith or some nebulous, general ‘faith’ that says we’re good enough, and smart enough to make our own decisions? Dungy Makes A Stand

Throughout his career and private life, Dungy has never “shied away from using his platform to discuss deep-seated beliefs and advocate for what he considers to be the core values of Christian faith and family,” The Christian Post wrote.

Dungy has fostered more than 100 children, adopting eight with his wife, and has a strong history of defending pro-life positions. He publicly supported former NFL player Benjamin Watson in his criticisms of Planned Parenthood and it’s founder for the organization’s high rates of abortion in the African American community.
