Biden Is ‘Killing Cures’ In Medical Industry

Apr 5, 2024

President Joe Biden tried to claim success with his “Inflation Reduction Act” during a speech Wednesday, but real Americans know how dangerous the economy has become under his leadership. And the threats are more than just financial.

“The Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) … is the worst legislation that I have ever seen, at least the prescription drug portion of it is,” Republican Georgia Rep. Buddy Carter told Washington Watch, the Washington Stand reported. The act “requires the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to ‘negotiate’ prices for the top-spending Medicare drugs.”

But in reality, Big Pharma’s backing of progressives is now coming home to hurt their bottom line. “What it is doing is killing cures,” Carter continued. “Already, drug companies have stopped research and development (R&D) and drugs that were in the pipeline because of this piece of legislation.” (LEARN MORE: Conservatives Warn Of Terror Vulnerability From U.S. Open Border)

Big Pharma’s Failure

“Keeping people well and finding solutions to these problems in the end will save us money,” Carter added. “The more people we can keep off of dialysis, the more people we can keep from having to have insulin, the more we can save. … If we can find a cure for Alzheimer’s, then we can not only save a tremendous amount of money, we can also save the wear-and-tear, if you will, that it will have on caregivers.” (LEARN MORE: ‘We Need Jesus’: Joe Rogan & Aaron Rodgers On Faith)

But this can’t happen when Biden’s position with Big Pharma is to keep taking money out of their pockets, so these costs get passed over to consumers because of how badly the law is written. “America is the greatest innovator in the world. We have had more innovation in America with drugs than any other country,” Carter continued, noting that during his 40 years as a pharmacist, “I saw nothing short of cures and nothing short of miracles [produced] through research and development.”

116.0 Million Life Years Lost

In 2023, the University of Chicago “conservatively” estimated that the reduction in research and development in Big Pharma, along with a drop in investment, would amount to 79 fewer new drugs, and 109 fewer post-approval indications for these drugs, totaling 188 fewer total treatments. “This forgone innovation is expected to lead to 116.0 million life years lost due to the missed opportunities to improve health,” the researchers wrote.
