Nursing student Laken Riley, 22, was kidnapped and murdered Thursday while out for a run on the University of Georgia Campus. On Friday, police arrested Jose Antonio Ibarra, an illegal immigrant, for the crimes.

Ibarra stands accused of kidnapping Riley sometime between 9 am and 1 pm on Thursday and using a currently unknown object to “disfigure her skull,” according to WSBTV. He is also accused of dragging Riley from the intramural fields on the campus to a “secluded area” in order to hide her death. Riley died from blunt force trauma.

Illegal Entry

Ibarra entered the U.S. illegally from Venezuela in September 2022. He was reportedly bussed from his entry point in El Paso, Texas, to New York City. He was subsequently arrested in New York for driving an uninsured, unregistered car, but was released by law enforcement. (LEARN MORE: GOP, Trump Call For Border Safety, With Or Without Biden)

Ibarra’s brother, Diego Ibarra, is also wanted in Georgia for stealing nearly $200 worth of items from a Walmart store. “Laken Riley is dead because America failed to protect her,” the New York Times wrote in a scathing editorial aimed at the Biden Administration, and their total failure to secure the border.

Our Government Knew Ibarra Was ‘Bad News’

“This fact — that one of our governments had in its custody a man who it knew was bad news, and who it knew was here illegally — justly infuriates people,” Charles Cooke wrote for the National Review. “Jose Antonio Ibarra had no business being in America — and, once his presence had been discovered, he should not have been.” (LEARN MORE: ‘Infighting’ And Ineffective: Report Destroys Biden’s Border)

The Associated Press also stands accused of blame-shifting the situation away from the fact Riley was murdered by someone who shouldn’t have been in the country onto women who go out jogging. Apparently it was Riley’s fault that she was out running alone in a wooded area.

“But the burden … was not on Riley to be more careful or to find a running buddy,” National Review writer Haley Strack noted, “it was her government’s responsibility to ensure that illegal predators who are known to law enforcement cannot so easily lurk in the shadows, waiting to strike.” (LEARN MORE: Conservatives Warn Of Terror Vulnerability From U.S. Open Border)

“The Biden Administration has blood on its hands.”

Republican Arizona Rep. Andy Biggs said “the Biden Administration has blood on its hands” for the murder of Riley.
