Bridge Collapse ‘National Economic Catastrophe’

The Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse in Baltimore, Maryland, Tuesday was branded a “national economic catastrophe” by Maryland Gov. Wes Moore, on Sunday.

“This is not a Baltimore catastrophe, not a Maryland catastrophe. This is a national economic catastrophe,” Moore told CNN’s “State of the Union.” His comments come just days after a massive cargo ship suddenly lost power, miraculously changed its trajectory, and crashed into the Francis Scott Key Bridge, killing six construction workers and at least two others.

“This port is one of the busiest, most active ports inside of the country,” Moore continued. “And so this is not just going to have an impact on Maryland. This is going to impact the farmers in Kentucky. This is going to impact the auto dealer in Ohio. Biden Shuffles Money To Maryland

Despite refusing to seriously support the victims of multiple deadly emergencies, such as the Hawaii wildfires and the Ohio toxic train derailment in 2023, the Biden Administration was quick to send financial support to Maryland. Biden almost immediately released $60 million in “quick release” emergency funds to rebuild.

Biden went so far as to promise to “move Heaven and Earth” to reopen the port. “The reason that we need people to move in a bipartisan basis and move in a fast basis is not because we need you to do Maryland a favor. Maryland needs no favors,” Moore added. “We need to make sure that we’re actually moving quickly to get the American economy going again because the Port of Baltimore is instrumental in our larger economic growth.” (LEARN MORE: Conservatives Warn Of Terror Vulnerability From U.S. Open Border)
