Conservative Christian former Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry was sworn in Sunday as the state’s 57th governor, replacing Democrat John Bel Edwards.
Landry officially won his election in October 2023 with 52 percent of the vote. His win comes off the back of a career dedicated to public service, pro-life, and pro-Christian values. He was in favor of the state’s 2022 abortion ban, against COVID-19 mandates, and is working to ban transgender surgeries aimed at children, according to the Washington Stand.
“Today’s election says that our state is united,” Landry said in 2023. “It’s a wake-up call and it’s a message that everyone should hear loud and clear, that we the people in this state are going to expect more out of our government from here on out.” (LEARN MORE: ‘Bidenomics’ Is Hurting Voters)

Family Research Council and host of Washington Watch Tony Perkins also spoke in favor of Landry, saying: “If you believe it, say it. And if it’s really who you are, you should not, quite frankly, you can’t hold it back. And this is who Jeff is. He spoke it. He was unafraid of it.”
