Dems Call For Censorship Of Free Political Speech Before Nov

[/caption]Leading Democrats appear to be calling for the end of the First Amendment, as well as mass censorship of free speech online in the lead-up to the 2024 election.

Democratic California Rep. Adam Schiff said in October that “Social media companies have a responsibility to protect our democracy – not enable misinformation and incitement. With the 2024 election approaching, they must step up and enforce election integrity policies — no more rollbacks. Our democracy is at stake.” The post was accompanied by a letter outlining what Schiff expects from social media in regards to censoring what he regards as “misinformation.”

Schiff wants to know exactly how Big Tech plans to switch up their policies in the run up to Nov., as well as committing to “sharing data and metrics on the effectiveness of your enforcement systems in relation to US elections and political speech?” (LEARN MORE: US Citizens Threaten Our Own Free Speech: POLL)

First Amendment Threats

Schiff is not alone in his disdain for our First Amendment. Former Secretary of State John Kerry said in September that “our First Amendment stands as a major block to the ability to be able to hammer [disinformation] out of existence. What we need is to win…the right to govern by hopefully winning enough votes that you’re free to be able to implement change.”

Kerry made the comment during a panel for the World Economic Forum (WEF), shortly after twice failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton called for those who share misinformation to be potentially jailed. She spoke in reference to what she called “Russian propaganda,” saying that “Americans who are engaged in this kind of propaganda, and whether they should be civilly or even in some cases, criminally charged.”
