FBI Worried Of Coordinated Attack In US

Apr 12, 2024

The FBI is apparently concerned about a coordinated attack here in the U.S. following a massacre at a Russian concert hall in March, Newsmax reported Friday.

FBI Director Christopher Wray told a panel on Thursday that this is the most pressing time of his career. “As I look back over my career in law enforcement, I would be hard-pressed to think of a time where so many threats to our public safety and national security were so elevated all at once,” Wray told lawmakers at the budget hearing. “But that is the case as I sit here today.”

Some 144 people were killed when members of the Islamic State terrorist organization opened fire at the Moscow concert hall, Newsmax argued. Russian President Vladimir Putin blamed Ukraine for the attack. Whoever did it, the U.S. is now concerned a similar attack may happen here in the U.S. (LEARN MORE: Feds Reportedly Release Terrorist ‘Accidentally’)

Homeland Under Threat

The concern “is the potential for a coordinated attack here in the homeland, akin to the ISIS-K attack we saw at the Russia Concert Hall just a couple weeks ago,” Wray explained. But not all lawmakers were convinced by Wray’s panicked rhetoric.

Wray is also calling to reinstall a surveillance system said to have been used to spy on political candidates during the 2016 presidential campaigns. Wray supports this surveillance program. But not everyone is convinced it is necessary as it seems like another means of getting more taxpayer money without going after real criminals. “I’ll be honest with you, and this pains me to say this, but I don’t trust you,” Republican Rep. Mike Garcia told Wray. “I don’t think that this is necessarily a funding problem that we have for your agency as much as a leadership problem.” (LEARN MORE: Most US Voters Think CIA, FBI May Control 2024’s Election)
