REMEMBER: Kamala Wants Police Out Of Schools

Aug 30, 2024

A clip tweeted in late August by Donald Trump Jr. showed presidential candidate Kamala Harris saying in 2019 that she wants to take police officers out of schools.

“Being incarcerated for a couple of days is traumatic,” Harris explained to an audience at the 2019 Presidential Justice Forum at Benedict College. “Much less the weeks, months, and years in there.” She’s referring to individuals who are sent to prison for crimes they’ve committed against others, who also experience trauma when a criminal hurts them, their families, their lives, or business. She didn’t mention these victims.

“And so part of my plan is a reduction of that,” Harris continued without explaining what she meant in any detail. As a result, one presumes she’s talking about emptying prisons instead of trying to reform them or cut out pathways that lead so many people to criminality. “Demilitarizing Our Schools”

She went on to say how she’d like to “demilitarize our schools” and “take police officers out of schools,” which received a round of applause from the audience. It is unclear who was in the audience, but maybe they don’t have children in American schools and don’t realize how dangerous these institutions are because of Democratic policies that seemingly encourage criminality. “We need to deal with the reality and speak the truth about the inequities around school discipline,” she stated as if she feels disciplining school children is more important than disciplining criminals. Or supporting any type of reform for criminals, other than letting them onto the streets again.
