RFK Jr. Still Loves His Family Despite Their Attacks

Presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who officially endorsed former President Donald Trump over the weekend, says he still loves his family despite their repeated attacks against him and his political views.

“We want an America filled with hope and bound together by a shared vision of a brighter future, a future defined by individual freedom, economic promise, and national pride,” Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, Courtney Kennedy, Kerry Kennedy, Chris Kennedy, and Rory Kennedy said in a statement against their most successful living relative, RFK Jr., “We believe in Harris and Walz. Our brother Bobby’s decision to endorse Trump today is a betrayal of the values that our father and our family hold most dear. It is a sad ending to a sad story.” It’s unclear why the Kennedy family continues to back Democrats despite their family legacy.

RFK Jr. has faced intense hatred from his kin, likely because if the Kennedy family went all-in on supporting Trump, they’d be ostracized by the Democratic party. And the Kennedys don’t have the best history with being ostracized by the state, even when they’re actively in office.

RFK Jr.’s Christian Response

“My family is — I understand that they’re troubled by my decisions. I love my family. I feel like we were raised in a milieu where we were encouraged to debate each other and debate ferociously and passionately about things and still love each other,” he said in an interview with Fox News. “They’re free to take their positions on these issues. There are many, many members of my family working at my campaign and who are supporting me.”

“I think we all need to be able to disagree with each other and still love each other,” he said, though didn’t clarify whether he’d received the same support from his siblings. (LEARN MORE: Former Democrat Makes Enormous Endorsement)

“I am so grateful to my amazing wife Cheryl for her unconditional love, as I made a political decision with which she is very uncomfortable. I wish this also for the country — love and unity even in the face of disagreement. We will need that in coming times,” he said just before announcing his support for Trump.
