RFK Jr. Explains His Simple Plan For American Agriculture In Short Video

A reposted video went viral in mid-February of Health and Human Services (HHS) Sec. Robert F. Kennedy Jr. explaining his plans for the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).

The video reshared on Feb. 14 appears to have originally been posted before the 2024 presidential election, and encompasses a portion of Kennedy’s “Make America Healthy Again” plan, succinctly summarized in roughly two minutes. Kennedy called the policy a “win-win” for farmers and consumers and the environment.

“America’s current [agricultural] policy is destroying America’s health on every level. It’s destroying the economic health of farmers by forcing them to get big or get out. Big corporate farms are doing just fine, but small and medium farmers are squeezed to the point of collapse,” Kennedy continued. “It also destroys the health of America’s soil and water by tilting the playing field in favor of more chemicals, more herbicides, more insecticides, more concentrated monocrops and feed lots. And finally, it destroys the health of consumers.”

Kennedy likened the pollution of the environment to the pollution of our bodies through corporate interests’ hijacking of the USDA’s dietary guidelines away from natural, unprocessed foods.

What Is The Solution?

“We’re going to give farmers an off-ramp from the current system that destroys their health, wrecks the soil, makes Americans sick, and destroys family farms,” he continued. “We’re going to rewrite the regulations to give smaller operators a break. We’re going to encourage sustainable regenerative farming that can build soil and replenish aquifers. It appears Kennedy is leaning on American knowledge to create his plans for USDA, explaining how citizen farmers have proven track records of success in regenerative farming and other methods that can clean American soil, water, and our bodies.

What Happens Next?

Kennedy will have to work with Agriculture Sec. Brooke Rollins to implement any plans for the USDA, which seems likely in the near future as both were confirmed to President Donald Trump’s cabinet in early Feb.

“I look forward to working with Bobby Kennedy as we figure out, do we have the healthiest choices?” Rollins said when asked about SNAP program reform on Feb. 14, according to the Daily Wire. “So when a taxpayer is putting money into SNAP, are they okay with us using their tax dollars to feed really bad food and sugary drinks to children who perhaps need something more nutritious?”

Rollins also wants to work with technology billionaire Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to see how SNAP programs are spending taxpayer money. “Oftentimes, these government programs are started with the idea that you’re going to help people — it’s not a handout, it’s a hand up — and then years later, the programs are even bigger, and you’ve got more people on them,” she explained. “And are we really giving people a hand up, or is it instead a handout? So if we can have a whole other group of really smart people looking at SNAP and other programs at USDA, that will allow us to ensure, what are our metrics for success? “Will we ever take food out of a hungry child’s mouth? Of course not. This is the United States of America,” she added. “But truly, this program has grown so large, especially in the last administration. Under Biden, I think SNAP, grew almost 30% more than before.”
