Texas Land Commissioner Dr. Dawn Buckingham joined Tony Perkins on Washington Watch, Thursday, to discuss the humanitarian crisis at the U.S. southern border with Mexico.

Buckingham said that Americans are the ones being hurt by the Biden Administration’s total neglect of the crisis on the southern border, and they’re hurting “every single day.” More than 10 million illegal immigrants are believed to have crossed the border since the start of Biden’s term in office. That’s more than the individual populations of some 41 states, the Washington Stand noted.

Danger To People Crossing

Blocking off the border is in the best interest of all people involved, Buckingham continued. She explained that the particular border  park discussed by Biden “happens to be where the local golf team practices every day.” And that part of the river is very unsafe due to the high risk of drowning.

“We want to take this off of the path of our migrants. And so, we’re going to reinforce it with the wire,” even though the federal government warned them not to do so.

Who Is Crossing?

“[T]hese are not just free people coming to a better life,” Buckingham continued, explaining how most illegal immigrants “are completely enslaved by the cartels and the most violent gangs in our country. And they are basically beholden to sell drugs, sell their bodies, [and] do terrible things.” She called the situation “the largest expansion of slavery that this world has ever seen,” and that “we … shouldn’t be standing for it.” (LEARN MORE: Biden’s Border Crisis Threatens Supply Chain)
