56% Of Voters Support Illegal Immigrant Deportation

May 26, 2024

A Reuters and Ipsos poll released Monday found that 56% of U.S. voters support the deportation of illegal immigrants.

A little more than 1 in 3 voters said they support the establishment of detention camps to hold illegal immigrants awaiting deportation out of the U.S., according to the poll. Between the cohort of voters polled by the organizations, 56% were pro-deportation of all illegal immigrants, while 36% supported the creation of detention camps. In contrast, 54% of respondents said they oppose the concept of such camps.

Republicans were far more likely to support the deportation of most or all illegal immigrants, with 85% responding positively to the poll. Somewhat surprisingly to some, 61% of Democrats also support deporting all or most illegal immigrants. (LEARN MORE: Terrorist Planning NYC Attack Stopped At Border)

Open Border Threat

Analysis of the polling data by Reuters noted how important illegal immigration was during the 2020 presidential election. In 2024, it is arguably one of the top concerns facing all legal voters in the U.S. President Joe Biden’s reign in the White House will be largely defined by his inaction on our open southern and northern borders, allowing for millions of illegal immigrants to flood into the country. It is unclear how many of these illegal immigrants pose a threat to U.S. citizens. In May, an illegal immigrant who is a convicted child sex offender was arrested in Arizona. In the fiscal year thus far (which started in October 2023) more than 8,800 illegal immigrants with criminal convictions have been encountered by Border Patrol Agents.
