Trump’s New ‘Border Czar’ Tom Homan: What You Need To Know

President-elect Donald Trump said Sunday that he intends to appoint former ICE Director Tom Homan as his administration’s “border czar.” We spent some time digging around about Homan, and thought we’d share what we found with you.

“​​I’ve known Tom for a long time, and there is nobody better at policing and controlling our Borders. Likewise, Tom Homan will be in charge of all Deportation of Illegal Aliens back to their Country of Origin. Congratulations to Tom. I have no doubt he will do a fantastic, and long awaited for, job,” Trump said on Truth Social, according to Fox.

“It’s going to be a well-targeted, planned operation conducted by the men of ICE. The men and women of ICE do this daily. They’re good at it,” Homan told Fox on Sunday. Homan’s appointment will be as a member of White House staff and would not require Senate confirmation for his position, noted Politico.

Other Potential Roles

Homan served under the Trump administration’s first term, per Reuters. He’s also been tipped as a contender for Secretary of Homeland Security. No matter what, his likely role will involve not only tackling the border crisis from the north and south, but dealing with the millions of illegal immigrants who entered our country during the Biden-Harris administration. “As a guy who spent 34 years deporting illegal aliens, I got a message to the millions of illegal aliens that Joe Biden’s released in our country in violation of federal law: You better start packing now. You’re damn right. Cause you’re going home,” said Homan during a speech at the Republican National Convention in 2024.

“Wait until 2025,” he said at the National Conservativism Conference earlier in 2024, adding that he thinks the now-incoming administration should prioritize national security threats, “no one’s off the table. If you’re here illegally, you better be looking over your shoulder.”

“[Y]ou’ve got my word. Trump comes back in January, I’ll be in his heels coming back, and I will run the biggest deportation operation this country’s ever seen,” he added. (LEARN MORE: Terrorist Planning NYC Attack Stopped At Border)
